Changes in Population at the Jungfernhof Concentration Camp

The Locker of Memory project is conceived as a storytelling project. I work closely with historians and scientists to develop meaningful content. The most important story, central to the Jungfernof concentration camp, is how 3985 imprisoned Jews dwindled to 27 Jews in July 1944, before the camp was formally dismantled.  I introduced the Population Chart as an idea for representing the decrease in population of Jews at the camp. My goal was to link these changes to events, extrapolated from the Jungfernhof concentration camp timeline. The historians did the research. In its final form, the chart combines brutality with scientific precision.
