Archiving Website to Preserve Documentation

  • The Locker of Memory website represents a virtual memorial for the victims of the Jungfernhof Concentration Camp.

  • Plan to establish Wikipedia page to extend online access,

  • In progress: include Jungfernhof Concentration Camp in volume six of USHMM encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos

  • Upon completion of memorial project (anticipated date 2030), a search will take place to evaluate appropriate transfer of website to a hosting organization for preservation and permanent access of content.

  • Content of website

    • Website will contain complete record of the Locker of Memory project documentation, to include detailed accounts of multiple histories, such as Latvian Holocaust history, essays on multiple topics concerning Latvia’s Holocaust history, history of site, history of the Jungfernhof concentration camp; Latvia’s history of memorialization, concerning camp site; interviews with survivors, eye-witness reporters, and descendant families; newsletters, and all media content.

    • Website will feature detailed descriptions of major components of the Locker of Memory project: 1) extensive research, 2) search for mass grave, 3) deportation video, 4) commemorative events, 5) memorial development.

    • Website will include documentation of the various projects, exhibitions, and commemorative events.

    • Website will also contain workshops with different student groups and community residents.

  • Article publications in professional journals, and potential book publication(s) highlighting project’s unique design..
